In December of 2017, during the presidency of Mauricio Macri, the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic put into circulation new coins of 1 and 5 pesos.

The new family of coins, "Trees of the Argentine Republic", is composed of four denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 10 pesos, with the images of jacaranda, palo borracho, arrayán and caldén, respectively.

These species are representative of different regions of Argentina. As in the case of the native animals present in the notes, the choice of trees aims to celebrate the value of Argentina's natural resources and to raise awareness about environmental preservation.

Each coin has a particular tonality that distinguishes it.
